She's been an important icon for National Geographic since she first made the cover... and she didnt have to show anything except her eyes.

According to AOL's attached story National Geographic is now taking care of her monetarily, in some fashion. They didn't give details.

Except for how bug eyed scared she looks in the shot from 17 years ago that girl was beautiful!! That's an incredible face.

USA Today said she's 29 or 30, cranked out three kids, lost both her parents and had to live like crap for all her life. She'll get some kind of financial deal from NG. Maybe a couple cows and a goat. Hopefully some cash for her kids.

She looks downright mean now but I guess if you lived like she did all these years, you'd have a little chip on your shoulder then too.
